Breakfast Anyone?
I was recently asked about my favorite breakfast destination in Mountain View. Well, that’s a very difficult question; how could I possibly choose just one? It totally depends on what kind of mood I’m in!
Country Gourmet has Banana French Toast that brings tears of joy to my eyes.
Posh Bagel on Castro Street could actually be called Posh Crepe because they have some incredible Strawberry Banana crepes that are a favorite with locals.
Los Altos Taqueria on Old Middlefield is well-known for their Breakfast Burrito.
Taqueria Los Charros, downtown, is the place for Huevos Rancheros or Menudo.
Caffe Neto on Castro has Shakshuka, eggs on veggies and baked in a brick oven.
Hobee’s, we have the original one, and I have already declared their blueberry coffeecake “The Official Coffeecake of Mountain View.”
Red Rock Coffee, hands down, the most beautiful cappuccino in town.
Roger’s Deli claims to have “healthy donuts” and those two words together really intrigue me.
Esther’s German Bakery and Café has an old-fashioned traditional German breakfast.
Le Boulanger on Castro is super reliable for always having enough ‘fruit and cheese rings’ (my all time favorite) for board meetings.
Starbucks! Can you believe that Mountain View has 11 Starbucks, including the small ones that are in a few of our Safeway stores? It’s true.
These are just the first places that come to mind. Please leave comments and tell everyone where you go for your Saturday morning biscuits and gravy.

Los Charros Restaurant on El Camino has a wider breakfast menu than Taqueria Los Charros, its sister restaurant.
Excellent recommendations. I love the expresso at Red Rock Cafe! They really know how to press a good one!
Great list. I’d also offer up Spica Coffee and Tea on Castro, as they have gluten free treats.
This is awesome, I can’t wait to try some of these places!
Another out-of-the-way place for breakfast is Bajis’ Down the Street Cafe, 2423 Old Middlefield Way. They basically only serve Breakfast and Lunch. http://www.bajis.com/
Thanks for the ideas! I’d like to submit a few more:
- Esther’s German Bakery
- A Good Morning
- Crossings Cafe (best breakfast burrito in town! and best service!)
