Breakfast Anyone?
The tradition of having a morning feast at Country Gourmet goes back decades. Several of us from the office went there this week and were honored to partake in this long-time Mountain View tradition.
Country Gourmet certainly has fabulous menus for lunch or dinner, but we always seem to end up there at breakfast time. Look for the “Specials” menu written on several blackboards behind the register. The Banana French Toast and the San Jose Omelet were our favorites this week, although next week we’ll be ordering the Pumpkin Pancakes and the California Benedict. That’s right, we already know what we want to order next time!
If you haven’t been here before, the process is kind of self-serve. Order at the front counter when you walk in and take the plastic number to your table. The drinks are also do-it-yourself. We like that customers can sit wherever they want to as opposed to being seated by a server. We noticed the “No cell phones” sign on the front door. They’ve had this sign up for years. I didn’t notice anyone actually talking on their cell phone, but my co-workers were texting, and updating their Facebook pages as we waited for our meals to arrive. I’m pretty sure we weren’t breaking the rules… I certainly hope not.
And the best part about breakfast at Country Gourmet: they serve it until 2:30 on weekends!

I love breakfast! And I really like places that let you order breakfast when it’s not breakfast time.
