Country Gourmet

I love it when someone offers to take me out for breakfast… First choice: Belgian Waffles from Country Gourmet. I don’t even need to think about where to go and once I get there, I don’t need to look at the menu. And I like my breakfast to be pretty. I know it sounds silly, but it’s true. These waffles never let me down. Fresh fruit piled high with whipped sweet butter on top and the syrup on the side so the waffles don’t get soggy. Thank you Country Gourmet for having such a fabulous breakfast for me and for making it look so appealing. And I love that the coffee pot is out where I can get to it as often as I want. My day is so much more productive when I can get my hands on the coffee pot as many times as I want.

On the front door is a big sign that reads “NO CELL PHONES.” I don’t think it’s taken seriously, since I took a photo of my waffles with my phone and I checked my Facebook newsfeed and sent a brief email to a friend. I’m pretty sure that they mean “No loud-talkers” but people that tweet or play Words with Friends or Angry Birds won’t be in trouble.

I recently went to a dinner event that was catered by Country Gourmet.  There were about 150 people at the event and the food was incredible. It was Lemon Chicken with steamed rice and veggies. There were several different salads to choose from and Caramel Pecan brownies for dessert. I was really surprised at the quality of the food. I couldn’t even imagine how difficult it would be to feed that many people and for all of the meals to be hot. Obviously, I’m not in the catering business and I have no idea how they did it, but it was amazing. Thanks Country Gourmet for being such a reliable restaurant in our community for well over 20 years. I love Mountain View because of places like this!

Their veggie burger is a secret recipe, and their Mexican salad is my fave, and their desserts are amazing, and, um, whew…I need to breathe.

I love Country Gourmet too, and if you belong to their “Rewards” program, your birthday meal is almost free. Nice people and remember to tip a little for the hard-working servers:).
