Free Health Resource Center

Tuesday, 03 Aug 2010

The Palo Alto Medical Foundation Mountain View Center has a Health Resource Center that is open to everyone. You should take the time to stop by and look around for a few minutes. It’s on the 3rd floor. Some of the free services that are offered are weekly blood pressure screenings, parenting workshops, community health lectures, and assisted online searches about health related topics.

They also have all kinds of medical reference books for viewing, health and wellness books for both children and adults that can be checked out, newsletters and magazines, videos, printable patient handouts and guides about classes and support groups.

Some of the periodic Parent Workshops that are just around the corner are:

  • Sept. 14 7-8:30 pm Infections in Children
  • Nov. 2 7-8:30 pm Healthy Family Meals
  • Nov. 9 7-8:30 pm Bye Bye Diapers

This facility also offers free Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program as well as Advance Health Care Directive. These are by appointment only.

Join the Healthy Trails Walkers on the next neighborhood walk on Monday, August 9th at 5:45 pm. The hour long walks leave from the PAMF Mountain View Center. You’ll be getting healthy and getting to know the neighborhood at the same time.  The next “Supermarket Wise” class is Sept. 14 from 2-4. You will walk through Nob Hill Supermarket and learn all kinds of new techniques for making healthier food choices for you and your family. Please pre-register for this class. Another class being offered is a “Mind-Body Stress Management” and it involves using gentle movement exercises to deal with stress. It’s a 3 week class that meets once a week. There is also a “Raising a Healthy Eater” class for anyone who may be concerned about their child’s eating habits. For details on any of the classes or workshops, visit Palo Alto Medical Foundation online or call 650-934-7373. PAMF is keeping our community happy and healthy. They’re just another reason to love Mountain View.
