Geocaching: High-Tech Hunt for Hidden Treasure

Saturday, 22 Aug 2009

geocashing-gpsIt might not be an actual “treasure,” but it’s certainly a fun hunt! Geocaching is an adventurous activity that involves hunting for a hidden “cache” by using a handheld GPS device. Yippee, let’s go! You’ll find your GPS and an expert to show you how to use it at Best Buy on Charleston in Mountain View. You say you’re high-tech challenged? Don’t worry, these little gadgets are super-duper smart and with a little practice, you’ll have it figured out in no time. If you have any trouble, you can always ask a fifth-grader for help. There are over 200 hidden caches in Mountain View and along our Stevens Creek Trail. You’ll work up a ferocious hunger while out poking your nose under mailboxes, in rosebushes, and on top of lamp posts, so your next destination is La Fiesta Restaurant. Don’t be shy, just go for the “Grandma’s Special Enchiladas” and a top-shelf margarita on the rocks for the adults. geocachingYou’ve earned it! If you already go on Geocaching adventures with your family—tell us about your favorite areas.
