Mountain View Gets Creative
Mountain View Reads Together has selected The Mailbox by Audrey Shafer as the book for 2009. We heard that there will be numerous exciting events planned around this book including a speaking engagement with the author, 
who is a proud Mountain View resident. Another activity related to the book is an art contest. The plan is for everyone to create a piece of art that is inspired by the book. The Mountain View Library is planning the contest and all of the artwork that is entered in the contest will be on display in the library. Perhaps you are a mosaic artist, a painter, a jewelry artist, an illustrator, a photographer, a wood-worker, or even potter, put your skills to work on a piece of art that relates to the book. The entire community will get to enjoy while it is on display in the lobby of our library. Isn’t a ginger-bread mailbox a fun idea?
On a similar note is the City of Mountain View October Arts Challenge. We’re so lucky to live in a community that promotes appreciation and involvement in the Arts. 
To get involved in the October Arts Challenge simply create some art, appreciate some art and tell others how the art affected you and your name will be entered in a drawing for some great prizes. So let’s all be extraordinarily creative for the next few months…
The new display cabinets in the lobby of the MV Library have a wonderful exhibit of The Mailbox and the up-coming events scheduled around the reading of the book. Check it out (…and anything else that catches your fancy in the library!!)
The Arts Challenge entry form is now available for download from http://www.mv-arts.blogspot.com. Appreciate or create art in Mountain View, and write about your experience! By submitting your form, you will become eligible for a random drawing for giveaways from six local arts organizations.
