Radishes, Chickens and Goats! Oh my!

Monday, 13 Jul 2009

olivegrove-hidden-villaFor the ultimate in family adventures, you absolutely must visit Hidden Villa Farm. Let’s face it, our kids are city-kids and we don’t have sheep in our back yards. Let them come face to face with a goat and milk a cow—with the help of an expert! Walk the woodland trails, have a picnic under an old Oak tree, and stroll through the organic garden. Be sure to brush up on your farm etiquette before you get started: No chasing the free-range chickens, don’t pick the flowers or there won’t be any left for the next visitor and it’s never a good idea to touch the poison oak. The entire family can even stay the night in a cabin. Check their calendar of events for more fun such as cheese and butter making and star-gazing. If you don’t have time to pack a picnic lunch, swing by Togo’s on the way. olive-groveb-hidden-villaDon’t be tempted to share your lunch with the goats, no matter how cute they are. The kids will be talking about this family-outing for years to come!

  1. People might not realize that Hidden Villa has a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program. If you’re a member, from May to November you get weekly fresh, organic, seasonal veggies (and sometimes fruit) grown just seven miles away. http://hiddenvilla.org/csa.php

  2. I love Hidden Villa! It’s a little piece of paradise! They even donate fresh produce to Community Services Agency! It’s a wonderful place with miles and miles of trails…and a cute cow named Daisy…who will com right up to you for lovin’!

  3. Hi Benjamin, Yes! Deer Hollow was one of the first place that we wrote about. Scroll back into the month of May and you’ll see that entry. Thanks for your comment! Heidi

  4. How about Deer Hollow Farm at Rancho San Antonio? It’s actually run by the City of Mountain View.
