The Best Farmers Market Anywhere
This is the time of year that many seasonal Farmers Markets are closing down until next spring, but not the Mountain View Farmers Market! Our market runs year round. The selection of produce and baked goods changes as the seasons change and if you haven’t been in a while, you’ll be pleasantly surprised as you stroll the market next weekend. Our market is open every Sunday from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. It is located in the parking lot of the train station on Evelyn Ave, at the intersection of View. If you have your heart set on purchasing something specific, I suggest that you get to the market before 11:00 or you might discover that your particular grower has sold out. Trust me—I’ve had to hold back the tears on several occasions.
This warm autumn weather is perfect time to enjoy the market. Check out the outrageous selection of apples, every imaginable type of potato, Brussels sprouts, fresh strawberries, persimmons, dates, nuts, winter squash, all kinds of greens, and the bright red cabbage. Be sure to look for the raw honey, 
duck eggs, fresh squeezed orange juice and some of the most exquisite orchids at really good prices. Don’t be intimidated by the long line of customers at the Acme bread booth: just get in line.
Some of the sellers are just as interesting as the produce they offer. There’s the friendly ‘herb-guy’ who always offers gardening suggestions and carries the hippest up-and-coming herbs. Have you heard of Lovage, Sorrel or Chervil? The ‘herb-guy’ will tell you all about them. And the ‘mushroom-lady’ has all kinds of shroom advice. Even her “ugly shitakes” are a big seller. Apparently, customers don’t judge a mushroom its appearance. I also like the charming sausage-guy and the Mountain View family that bakes cookies. Their famous cashew cookies are a family recipe that goes back 100 years.
Our fabulous Farmers Market is just another reason that Mountain View is the best place on earth!
