The Chamber of Commerce Mountain View and the Central Business Association are proud to announce that we have joined forces with many of our favorite local businesses to kick off Shop Local. This is a list of the participating businesses:

Our Shop Local program is very different from other programs that encourage people to spend dollars locally. Our Shop Local program will be donating $10,000 to local Mountain View schools. Each of the participating business will make a $500 donation that goes directly back into our community. Investing in our children’s education will certainly have a lasting and positive impact on the community.

You can make a difference:

Please consider doing business with the fine establishments that are participating in this program and if you would like to join the list above, please fill out the Shop Local registration form and fax it to 650-968-5668.

You may also download the Shop Local Flyer.

Shop Local Mountain View and everyone wins! Our schools, our children and our local businesses all come out ahead!

  1. We are proud to be part of this program, and several others that support our local community needs. With the monetary issues being faced on state, county and local levels it is important that business supported by the community find ways to give back where it can best help.
It is important that community members mention this program when shopping at businesses that are participating. This will encourage other businesses to take part and assure the success of the program in the long run.

  2. Steve, you’re amazingly generous. Thank you for your support of Shop Local, our local schools and various sports teams.

  3. This is a list of the first merchants to sign-up for Shop Local: Play It Again Sports, Helmings Auto Repair, KMVT 15, Little Prodigy Preschool and Daycare, Le Boulanger, Pegpay, Spectrum Fine Homes, and Dean’s Automotive.

Please show your support by shopping at these businesses.

  4. Play It Again Sports at Grant and El Camino is part of this program. Even though our sales are down nearly 45% from last year we still felt it was important to support this program as well as other leagues. We are hopeful everyone is support who is part of this program. We also are still supporting the following organizations.

    MVLA Little League
    MVLA Girls Softball
    MVLA Pony Baseball
    SVGSL Fast Pitch Softball
    and numberous local schools

  5. E-Scrip is a wonderful program that gives money back to local schools when you shop at participating merchants. Our Shop Local program will also benefit local schools and our local economy when people shop at partipating businesses. Shop Local is a locally run and managed program.

  6. The Shop Local concept is an awesome idea and I am honored and happy to be a part of such an amazing program that helps the local economy AND raises money for schools.

My kids attend Bubb and Graham—excellent schools that are providing my kids with excellent educations. The teachers and principals alike are SUPER involved with students and parents, and are committed to students’ success. With the horrible budget cuts that were made to schools this year, I feel lucky and proud to be actively doing something that has a direct, positive impact on making a difference to help schools and education, while at the same time helping to improve the local economy. Shop Local is a program that is true win-win for us all!

  7. Is this program patterned after e-scrip? Hope so…I’ll be sure to spend even more of my $$ locally.

  8. Thank you. Mountain View is a small city with many big hearts coming together to support our local economy and local schools.

  9. I have been seeing shop local efforts all around the country but none yet have picked up on this idea of tying it into community support. There are many ways that when businesses support their communities, the community supports the business back and everyone benefits. Congratulations to Mountain View’s Shop Local. I hope this sets a trend for other communities.
