Free Food Films

Thursday, 24 Jun 2010

I recently heard about some special documentary films that will be shown at the Palo Alto Medical Foundation Mountain View Center. There are 3 of them scheduled and they’re free. They will be shown in a conference room on the 3rd floor. I’m really interested in the topic and couldn’t wait to post it on the ILoveMV site.

  • The first film is June 25, from 7 to 9 pm. It’s called King Corn. It’s about two friends, an acre of corn, and the subsidized crop that drives the fast-food industry.
  • The second film is July 30, from 7 to 9 pm. It’s called Fresh and it’s about farmers and business people who are aiming for a more sustainable food system in America.
  •  And the third film is called What’s on Your Plate. It will be shown on August 27, from 7 to 9 pm. It’s about two 11 year-old multi-racial kids and their exploration of the food chain.

This is the first time that the Palo Alto Medical Foundation Mountain View Center has done a film series and they’re already thinking about doing it again next year. They are also having one of their physicians, Ed Yu, M.D., on hand to lead the discussions after the films.  Dr. Yu is a former film critic. There will also be nutrition experts on hand to answer questions. PAMF will even provide healthy popcorn for us to munch on during the movie. And the entire family is welcome.

These free films are scheduled for the last Friday night of June, July and August from 7-9 pm. Yet another reason to love Mountain View; free documentary films for the entire community. Thank you to the Palo Alto Medical Foundation Mountain View Center.

  1. The film series was in the summer of 2010. I don’t know if it will be repeated. You should just call PAMF Mountain View Center and ask if they’re doing more films this summer. Heidi

  2. Hi, Is there an official website or contact information about the film series? I had a difficult time on the Foundation’s site trying to find it. Thanks!
