Did you know that you can go on a ride-along with a Mountain View Police Officer? It’s true. And when they pull over someone, they’ll let you yell, “Get out of the car—keep your hands in the air!” Oh, of course not! It’s not anything like that at all. You’ll be expected to sit quietly in the police car for the 4 hour ride-along. You don’t have to go for 4 hours if that’s too long for you. They will drop you off back at the station if you need to leave earlier.

Although we live in a relatively safe city, you never know what kind of excitement you might see so be prepared. It’s great for residents to see what the job of a Police Officer is all about. You might even get to have a tour of the Mountain View Police Department.

And to finish off your law-abiding adventure, you absolutely must stop by Krispy Kreme Doughnuts in Mountain View. Watch for Krispy Kreme to turn on the red neon sign that says “HOT” so you’ll know that the original glazed doughnuts are coming out of the glazing machine right at that moment. Earns Krispy KremePerhaps your new police officer friend would like to accompany you to Krispy Kreme? Don’t make any assumptions, you don’t want to offend anyone, but it would be polite to at least offer. Actually, most of our Mountain View officers prefer Starbucks over Krispy Kreme, but you can still offer them a donut to see it they take the bait…

Is their any correlation with the Krispy Kreme “HOT” sign and the police term “Hot Pursuit”? I can definitely make the connection…
