Silicon House
I went on a tour of Silicon House this week. It’s so innovative and there isn’t anything else like it anywhere. Think about it like a combination of a start-up incubator, an entrepreneur meeting place, and a bed-n-breakfast all wrapped up in a beautiful bright, sunny house in a nice, quiet neighborhood in Mountain View.
Henrique Setton, one of the founders told me that since this area is like “Disneyland for developers” they come here from all over the world. Once they arrive, they might need help making the right connections. Silicon House is the perfect way to get a few steps ahead of the next guy. The guests get breakfast everyday, a customized agenda designed specifically for them, and a quiet place to work as many hours as they want. Founders, Henrique and Andrea Litto, make sure that the house guests get proper introductions to a network of seasoned professionals in their field. Guest speakers come to the house and speak on a wide variety of subjects, depending on what the entrepreneurs are interested in. And they find appropriate networking events for the house guests to attend. It’s all 100% customized to each house guest. They aren’t all doing the same thing as each other.
But it’s not all work; on the weekends they might go sight-seeing together and do some of the touristy things that are so famous in this area. And it’s always good to have someone show you Mountain View’s favorite watering-holes, coffee shops, and sushi places.
There were a few people working in the front room and I didn’t want to interrupt them, but I think that one was from Brazil and the other from Israel.
The inside of the house is bright, clean and uncluttered. It seems like a perfect work environment. There is a big porch that wraps around the house. The porch is also a perfect working or meeting area. I’m really excited to get to learn about Silicon House. They’ve only been open a few months and it’ll be fun to watch their business grow.
I have a feeling that they’re going to be very successful. I love Mountain View.
