Sono Sushi
Can I just tell everyone how happy I was with my lunch yesterday? I was in a hurry to get back to my office and I just wanted to find something healthy and fast. I did it! I walked to Sono Sushi on Castro and in less than 4 minutes I walked out the door with sushi-to-go. It helps that I’m incredibly decisive (especially when I’m hungry) and I don’t need to look at the menu (especially when I’m hungry).
I’ve been going to Sono Sushi for many years and they’re great when you want your food fast. Really, they’re as fast or faster than a fast food restaurant and so much better for you. On my way home from a long day at school, after a killer workout or anytime I don’t want to cook but want something relatively healthy, I stop by Sono Sushi.
And lollipops! I don’t understand the connection between Japanese food and lollipops, but I love it. No other Japanese restaurants offer lollipops for dessert; it’s usually something like orange wedges. I love it when I see someone walking down Castro Street sucking on a lollipop. I know where they went for lunch.
On several occasions I have stopped by Sono on Mondays and was sad to discover that they’re closed on Monday. Yes, I’ve done it more than once. You would think I could remember that important piece of information, but when you’re hungry, you can’t always think right…
I’m curious, where do you go for fast takeout when you can’t stand the thought of cooking your own dinner? Please share.

I go for Rose International Market for persian food fresh off the grill.
Call in your order before going there and it’ll be ready for pickup.

I always struggle with what to eat especially after a workout. Most of the times though, I opt for Subway sandwiches or stop by Trader Joe’s and pick up a pre-made salad. I would love to get some ideas too!
