July 4th in Mountain View
Where should you go in Mountain View to watch the fireworks on 4th of July? Definitely, the most popular destination is at Shoreline Amphitheater, watching the fireworks and listening to San Francisco Symphony. This year it will feature the music of Star Wars, chart-topping pop performed by renowned Broadway vocalist Capathia Jenkins, hit songs from Pixar, a salute to our Armed Forces, and more, culminating in a grand finale of amazing fireworks.
As I write this, there are still tickets available.
There will be tons of people that simply want to watch for free. That works too. They'll be gathering in parking lots and grassy areas, any place with an open view of the sky. Many people will be taking the trail instead of driving and that is a fabulous idea. Traffic will be very heavy, so please consider biking or walking if possible. The cheap seats are abundant in North Bayshore, but be prepared to deal with slow moving traffic. And by "cheap" I mean free for all the people willing to set up their lawn chairs in the parking lot or on the grass in front of local tech companies.
And here's another idea: The Boathouse & American Bistro at Shoreline Lake in Mountain View will have the most unique way to enjoy the fireworks in Silicon Valley -- from a pedalboat, rowboat, canoe or kayak, in the middle of the Lake, with friends and family -- and the best view of the Shoreline Amphitheatre fireworks show from anywhere in the Park or city limits. Can you believe it? Check out the *photos that I posted! It's the fireworks over the lake!
Park goers can also check out the customized picnic basket/watercraft combos and $15/person all day Access Passes. The prepared picnic baskets are available separately as well, and not to be missed is the BBQ, and much more...all by the water's edge. You can also find details on reserving watercraft, the barbecue, etc. in the July section of the Upcoming Events page. Here's a link to order your picnic basket.
Sunset Magazine said that a boat on Shoreline Lake was one of the top 7 places to watch the fireworks in the bay area.
And another idea is that you can go to the roof of one of the downtown parking lots to see the fireworks. I've done it before and it was fun. You'll be able to see more than just Mountain View's fireworks. I think I remember that you could even see Great America's fireworks from the rooftop parking lot .
Be safe and have a nice 4th of July.
