Elan Mountain View

Elan Mountain View invited my office to go on a tour last week. I’ve been watching the progress on this development and I was thrilled to get to see the inside and hear more about the small businesses that will be coming back to this corner of town. 

First of all, this place is absolutely gorgeous. I checked out a corner unit, a 2 bedroom, and it overlooks the intersection of Castro and El Camino. That particular home is already taken, and the new residents will start moving in this week. 

The galley kitchen has a quartz countertop, stainless steel appliances, and tile backsplash. All of the homes have full-size washer and dryers, Nest thermostats, hardwood style vinyl plank flooring, and keyless entry.

There are 3 buildings of apartments (a total of 164 homes), and 5 retail locations. I even asked if I could have a peek at the 2-level underground parking. The thought of parking my car in a convenient, underground lot and taking an elevator up to my house is something that I find so enticing.

Peet’s Coffee is opening this week. 

Rose International Market will be sometime this summer, maybe around August. Regular customers of Rose Market will be thrilled to see that the back pick-up window was recreated and looks better than ever. The inside looked sleek and clean, but they still had lots of work to do when I poked my head in the door. They are a middle eastern/mediterranean market that does catering and they’ve been in business in the bay area since 1982. I’ve been a customer for decades and I love that they’re returning to Mountain View!

Tanya’s Hair Salon and Le’s Alterations will also be back. I’ve been a regular customer at Le’s for years and although it wasn’t too difficult to get to their temporary location in Sunnyvale, I’ll be glad to have them return to Mountain View. There is one more retail store coming in, but it’s supposed to be a surprise and I’ve been sworn to secrecy.

I think that there are probably 125 restaurants within walking distance of Elan Mountain View. If you live here, finding something to eat will never be a problem, I promise.

I remember that this particular corner of town didn’t have much in the way of trees, or greenery, and I think it’s going to be much better now. Everywhere you look, you’ll see giant ceramic pots of trees, flowers, and succulents. There’s a small water fountain along the side of Peet’s.

All of the homes in the first building have been taken, but there are still 2 more buildings under construction, along with a community courtyard, with an edible garden, hammocks, a clubroom, grilling area, chef’s kitchen, TVs, and a business center. The Plaza Building (the one in the middle) starts leasing this week.
