Wedding season is here and one of the most popular venues for weddings in Mountain View, is the historic Rengstorff House. Just Google it, “Rengstorff House wedding” and you’ll see so many images of beautiful ceremonies, gorgeous table settings, and lots of adorable bridal parties smiling for the camera. This is definitely the venue for your wedding if you’re looking for a big, glamorous ceremony.
I went to one wedding ceremony that was on the Stevens Creek trail. There were only ten people and we gathered at a bench that overlooked the bay. The whole ceremony took about 15 minutes and lots of runners and bicycles passed us as the bride and groom were saying their vows. It was a pop-up wedding and everyone exercising on the trail was a guest. I loved it.
If you are looking for someone to be the officiant for your wedding ceremony, you can contact Lorrie Brewer, City Clerk for Mountain View. You can get married at City Hall or anyplace else in the area and she can perform the ceremony. She told me about some of the couples she has married, including a same sex couple. The price for a ceremony inside city hall is $50.00 and any place else is $175.00. That’s most likely within everyone’s budget. She told me that 90% of the couples show up with a photographer, even if it’s just someone with an iPhone. She helps couples with their vows and she loves performing ceremonies. Here’s a link to Santa Clara County website. You’ll need to go there, before you go to Mountain View City Hall, to get the actual marriage license.
If you’re looking for a wedding planner, or someone to help with any kind of event, you should meet Julie Conde of Celebrations by Heart. I've known Julie for a decade and I would feel great about hiring her to run and event for me. One of the reviews on her website says that she is “unflappable under pressure” and I would have to agree. She has a ton of local connections, she’s one of the kindest people you will ever meet, and she definitely knows how to plan and execute a spectacular event.
The first place I would go for a wedding cake is Alexander’s Patisserie on Castro Street. They make unbelievably decadent desserts and every time I look at their website, I have to go into the store to try something else that I saw online. An event that I recently attended had Alexander’s Lemon Meringue Tarts and everyone was talking about how amazing they are. I’ve given boxes of their macarons as gifts and the recipients are always pleased.
Sashay Floral is a Chamber member and every time we ask members to donate something to be raffled off at one of our events, Poppy’s (the owner) floral arrangements are always the most popular raffle prize. I’ve seen probably 25 of her creations that she donated to the Chamber, plus she did the flowers for a friend’s wedding and they were unbelievably gorgeous. I feel confident recommending Poppy to do your flowers.
Here’s a link to the Chamber of Commerce directory where you can find other services related to planning a wedding, such as landscaping designers, hotels, restaurants and caterers, and hair salons. Please leave a comment if you have questions about getting married in Mountain View. I’ll do my best to point you in the right direction.
