WeVideo: A Simple Tool For Business

I make a lot of little videos and I’m always trying new apps that give me different effects, often using several different apps on one video to get what I want. I recently heard about WeVideo. They were at the Technology Showcase this Summer. That event is a partnership between the City of Mountain View and the Chamber of Commerce with the purpose of promoting Mountain View’s innovative community and connecting businesses with the Mountain View community. I love that WeVideo is right here in Mountain View, and they’re getting involved in the community. More on that later.

After I downloaded the free app, I played around with it for a few weeks, didn’t read any directions or look for tutorials, you know.… just intuition and previous app experience to figure it out.

I have officially converted and subscribed. And I can’t believe I didn’t know about it earlier. Several people in my office can work on the same video project. That’s very cool. One of my colleagues loves editing videos, but not so much the getting content part. Me, on the other hand, I love filming and taking photos. I can dump the images and video in a media folder while I’m out at an event, and my teammate can start editing while she’s at the office. It’s all in the cloud. Everything is now.

If I had to tell you one thing that I love the most about it, it’s that it has themes and templates, in addition to the millions of other features that I want. And it’s easier than iMovie. Okay, that’s two things. I’m going through all of the WeVideo Academy videos now. I know, I said earlier that it’s all very intuitive, and it is, but I really want to be an expert, so I’m willing to let them teach me a thing or two.

I first met WeVideo at Technology Showcase, as I mentioned. They’re exactly the kind of business that participates in Tech Showcase, cool local companies that want to get to know residents, demonstrate their products, and get involved in the community. I saw WeVideo again at the Mountain View Art & Wine Festival, doing the same thing as they were at Tech Showcase, connecting with the community.

The reason I’m mentioning this is because I see the inside of lots of local businesses and I hear their stories. Some stories are about how tough it is to be in business around here, and others are about how vibrant and prosperous Mountain View is. In my opinion, the businesses that are the most successful are always the ones that get involved, and that’s what WeVideo is doing.

Everyone knows how important it is to “Shop Local.” I think that includes shopping in the app store. Especially when they (WeVideo) made an app that’s so slick and fun to use. I think it’s a perfect marketing tool for small businesses to use to introduce themselves to potential customers on social and demonstrate their services or products.

I could imagine fun time-lapse videos of landscaping, interior design jobs, hair salon services, remodel/construction projects and customer testimonials, just as a few examples of how small businesses could use the platform.

So keep watching my videos on social and show me yours, if you don’t mind. I’m just learning WeVideo, and I would love to see what you’ve made using their platform. Thank you! I love Mountain View.
